20 Things I’ve Learned (Or Had Confirmed) About Humanity During The ‘Pandemic’ (THREAD):

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

6/ Many politicians and large corporations will gladly sacrifice human lives if it is conducive to their political and financial aspirations.

And if it’s not their lives, it’s our sanity and well-being.

7/ Most people believe the government acts in the best interests of the people. Even many who are vocal critics of the government.

This one is pretty nuanced to me.   I think this one more intriguing in its depth than breadth.   I think most people would be inclined to believe that Politician are going to be more likely to act in their own best interest.   They believe most government agencies are so corrupted by politics or money that they can’t be trusted.

I think this one has morphed into the depth of the actions the government takes.   Let’s use military action in the middle east as an example.   I think a fair chunk of people will agree that a substantial portion of the motivation for this is maintaining access to natural resources.   Oil, lithium, other mineral deposits.   Though, how far is enough?  How many years with boots on the ground?  How many civilian casualties?   Is it even working??    We don’t have the mental attention or information for that.

Or the present dicey relationship with China.   I don’t think there is really any fear of China invading the US.  I don’t think that is anything that anyone thinks is on the horizon.   So it’s all over trade.   We are heading into a cold war with a major country – or multiple due to their allies – over trade.

China is important because it’s easiest route to the stock market’s idea of perpetual growth.   Many of these major companies have milked America for all she’s worth.  They have pretty much determined their American markets.   Nike people are Nike people.   Ford people are Ford people.

If these seasoned companies just accept that, how does their stock price continue to grow – forever.   Because that’s what we expect, right??!!   No hedge fund is going to say to Apple “nah, bro.  All is good.  You don’t need to find new markets to sell in.   Also, let’s find more expensive places to build the phones and keep the prices the same.”

We just hear that a fleet of warships and an aircraft carrier is headed that way.     We don’t have the attention span to ask “um, why?   Wait, why does THAT matter?  And what’s the cost?”   Not like these companies pay full taxes.
