Hey, are you a Manager or a Leader today?

I have always been fascinated by the difference between a LEADER and a MANAGER.   Of course, everyone wants to fancy themselves a leader.

But where do your efforts really fall when you think about this quote?   Particularly the 2nd part.   “and making sure that the impact lasts in your absence.”

So many people put their emphasis on getting their employees to do what they say.   Seems like that’s manager activity.

I would think that LEADERS would measure their worth on whether or not they do the right thing without telling.     Yeah, explaining to your people the WHY for the things you do is more work in the moment.  And of course, we just have to work to get through this day/month……….every day, every month…..ever.   But seems like that – if you think about it – these efforts are an investment.  You are just pre-loading future work you don’t have to do.
