20 Things I’ve Learned (Or Had Confirmed) About Humanity During The ‘Pandemic’ (THREAD):

4/ Propaganda is just as effective in the modern day as it was 100 years ago. Access to limitless information has not made the average person any wiser.
Totally true. Likely the only thing that keeps this from being more noticeable is the volume of propaganda. There being so many campaigns trying to pull people in different directions is likely the main thing keeping many of the dangerous ones from gaining critical mass to do real damage.
5/ Anything and everything can and will be politicized by the media, government, and those who trust them.
Whether it’s the “clickbait” trends of new media, or the traditional “if it bleed its leads” – it’s all about eyeballs. Guess this also applies to Facebook ads for blogs…..just….like…..this, or instagram models showing their ass. It’s all about monetizing fractional attention.
Pretty sure it was Malcolm Gladwell that did a great podcast about that topic. Much of our society is currently built around putting a monetary value on moments of your attention. For those that don’t know, the revenue streams of Google (Alphabet, whatever), Facebook, and Twitter are EXPLICITLY built on this principal.
You can go into these platforms, build simple ads, and then set a budget based on how much ATTENTION you want to buy. You can tell them you are willing to pay $.03 to just show your ad to someone who meets a specific profile. It might just be for 1 second.
Or set your bidding budget to pay more money per person who watches your video. More per click on your site. And even more per person who completes a survey or form on your site.
I used to own a credit repair company. People had bid up the Google search term “Credit Repair” so high that you had to pay them like $13 per person that clicked on your site! Even if it was on accident.
So, if you are paying that kind of cashish – you better make it count. You better catch their attention. The 2 easiest ways to do that are to piss people off or turn them on. Then they will excite, enrage, or scare you until you are reaching for your wallet. Even if that wallet is just staying on their channel longer so they can sell more ads.
